From atmospheric research services to new stratospheric infrastructure

Menapia develops and operates high-autonomy multicopter UAS for demanding research missions, while advancing a new UAS programme to establish persistent infrastructure in the stratosphere.

ARIA ENDURING ATMOSPHERIC PLATFORMS

Menapia selected for Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA) Enduring Atmospheric Platforms programme

Menapia has been selected as an R&D Creator in the Advanced Research + Invention Agency’s £70 million Enduring Atmospheric Platforms programme, led by Programme Director Rico Chandra, with a research contract carrying an approved cost of up to £17.4 million to develop CAROUSEL.

The Enduring Atmospheric Platforms programme brings together 18 teams developing technologies for reliable, cost-effective stratospheric flight, with the goal of demonstrating the ability to keep a communications payload powered and on station above the UK for a week.

CAROUSEL will explore a new approach using fleets of high-altitude multirotor aircraft. ARIA has highlighted the programme’s multirotor approaches, including Menapia’s ambition to attempt a new world altitude record as we build towards routine operations in the stratosphere.
